Etoposid Indications

- Small cell lung cancer.
- Non-immune testicular carcinoma.
- Acute myelomonocytic and myelocytic leukemia (GML, subtypes M4 or M5 by the classification of FAB), as part of combination therapy in the case of ineffective induction therapy.
- Palliative therapy of non-small cell lung cancer, reinjection therapy for Hodgkin's disease, induction therapy for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and acute myelocytic leukemia, as well as induction and re-induction therapy with choriocarcinoma.

Contradictions

- Hypersensitivity to etoposide or to other components of the drug.
- Pronounced inhibition of bone marrow function.
- Pregnancy, breastfeeding period.
- Etoposide can not be administered intraarterially or intraperitoneally (in the pleural, abdominal or other cavities).
- Acute infections.
- The use of a yellow fever vaccine or other live vaccine during the treatment period for immunosuppressive patients.

Dosage & Administration

Should be administered only by slow intravenous infusion (usually within 30-60 minutes), since hypovotilia may occur with rapid intravenous infusions.

Immediately before use, the required amount of the drug is diluted 5% glucose solution or 0,9% sodium chloride solution to the concentration of etoposide 0,2-0,4 mg / ml (usually not more than 0,25 mg / ml).

The diluted solution is then administered by intravenous infusion lasting at least 30 minutes.
