Testosterone Indications
- Replacement therapy in primary and secondary hypogonadism, eunuchoidism;
- impotence of endocrine origin, post-castration syndrome, male menopause;
- infertility due to disorders of spermatogenesis, oligospermia;
- osteoporosis caused by androgen deficiency;
- mammary cancer;
- menopausal disorders of women (combined with estrogens);
- dysfunctional uterine bleeding hyperestrogenism;
- mastitis, accompanied by painful premenstrual tension mammary glands;
- endometriosis, uterine fibroids.
Contraindications
Individual intolerance to the drug, prostate cancer or breast cancer in men, liver cancer, now or in history, severe liver dysfunction, hypercalcemia, hypercalciuria, untreated congestive heart failure, ischemic heart disease.
Dosing & Administration
Men at eunuchoidism, congenital underdevelopment sexual glands, removing them surgically or by trauma, as well as in acromegaly drug administered intramuscularly or subcutaneously at 25-50 mg every other day or every 2 days. The duration of treatment depends on the efficacy and nature of the disease.
After the improvement of the clinical picture of testosterone propionate administered in maintenance doses of 5-10 mg daily or every other day. When impotence endocrine genesis, as well as male menopause, accompanied by vascular and nervous disorders, testoterona propionate appoint 10 mg daily or 25 mg 2-3 times a week for 1-2 months.
For the treatment of male infertility drug used in a dosage of 10 mg two times a week for 4-6 months or 50 mg every other day for 10 days. In pathological male menopause drug prescribe on 25 mg 2 times a week for 2 months with a monthly interval. In the initial stages of prostatic hypertrophy administered 10 mg once every 2 days for 1-2 months.
Women older than 45 years with dysfunctional uterine bleeding appoint 10-25 mg a day for 20-30 days prior to cessation of bleeding and the appearance of atrophic cells in vaginal smears.
