Alcaine Indications
Alcaine 0.5% is applied during surgeries that require quick and short-term anesthesia, cataract removal, removal of corneal sutures, with tonometry, removal of foreign bodies, conjunctival epithelial scraping to diagnose and during any other procedures in which local anesthesia is indicated.
Dosage & Administration
Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any excipient.
Contradictions
For the ophthalmic examination drip 1-2 drops in the eye before the procedure. If necessary, the number of drops can be increased.
In carrying out minor operations, such as removal of a foreign body or removal of stitches, drip 1-2 drops of 1 to 3 times every 5-10 minutes.
For prolonged anesthesia required during such operations as cataract drip 1-2 drops 3 to 5 times every 5-10 minutes.
It should be noted that the local anesthetic effect occurs usually after 30 seconds and can last up to 15 minutes.
To prevent contamination of the dropper tip or the contents of the bottle, and be careful not to touch the eyelids or surrounding areas of the tip of the bottle-dropper.
To reduce the systemic absorption after applying eye drops should take the following measures:
- Close your eyes for 2 minutes;
- Squeeze your finger lacrimal canal for 2 minutes.
