Orzole Indication
Parenteral medicine use is indicated in cases of acute and severe infections or when oral administration ornidazole impossible with such diseases and conditions:
- Anaerobic systemic infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to the drug, septicemia, meningitis, peritonitis, postoperative wound infection, puerperal sepsis, septic abortion and endometritis
- Prevention of infections caused by anaerobic bacteria during surgery (especially during operations on the colon and rectum), gynecological operations
- Amebic dysentery with severe course, all forms of extraintestinal amebiasis, giardiasis, liver abscess
Contraindication
Hypersensitivity to the drug or to other nitroimidazole derivatives. Patients with CNS, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, chronic alcoholism. Circulatory disorders, pathological lesions of blood or other hematologic abnormalities.
Dosage and administration
The drug is administered intravenously for 15-30 minutes. In anaerobic infections in adults and children over 12 years to use the initial dose of 500-1000 mg, then - 500 mg every 12 hours or 1000 mg every 24 hours for 5-10 days (stepped dose). Once the patient's condition has stabilized, you must go to oral ornidazole (eg tablets 500 mg, 1 tablet every 12 hours).
