Indometacin Indications
The effectiveness of short-term symptomatic treatment of indomethacin set relative to the following conditions:
- Acute and chronic pain of inflammatory and degenerative diseases of the musculoskeletal system: rheumatoid arthritis; acute exacerbation and chronic ankylosing spondylitis (a disease Behtyereva); attack of gout and gouty arthritis; osteoarthritis moderate to severe;
- Diseases of periarticular tissues: tendonitis, bursitis (acute painful shoulder) tendobursyty, tenosynovitis, inflammation and pain after injuries (including athletes) and surgical interventions;
- Dyskopatiya, plexitis;
- Dysmenorrhea.
It is necessary to carefully assess the potential benefits and risks of the use of indomethacin and other treatment options before deciding to use indomethacin. It should use the lowest effective dose for the shortest period of time according to the individual patient treatment goals (see. Section "Peculiarities of Application").
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the active or any of the excipients of the drug.
Hypersensitivity to aspirin or other NSAIDs symptomatic asthma, urticaria or rhinitis, angioedema.
Data history of gastrointestinal bleeding or perforation, which were caused by the use of drugs of NSAIDs in the past.
Active or recurrent peptic ulcer or bleeding (two or more cases of proven ulceration or bleeding), ulcerative colitis and / or enterocolitis.
Concomitant use of other NSAIDs, including specific inhibitors of cyclooxygenase-2 because of the increased risk of adverse effects.
Severe heart failure.
Severe hepatic and renal failure.
Hemorrhoids, anal fistula and fissure, proctitis and other diseases of the rectum and anus.
Bleeding from hemorrhoids.
Pre- and postoperative pain in coronary-artery bypass grafting.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: the usual dose - 50 mg (one suppository) 2 times daily or 100 mg (2 suppository) once a day. The maximum daily dose is 200 mg.
When used daily doses greater than 150-200 mg, increasing the risk of side effects.
Elderly patients, it is recommended to take the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible time, so that there is an increased risk of side effects. Patients should monitor, as you may experience bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract.
Duration of treatment:
duration of drug treatment should not exceed 7 days.
Application method:
The frequency of side effects may decrease, applying for the relief of symptoms of the lowest effective dose for the shortest time.
