Longocain Indications
Local anesthesia by infiltration.
Regional anesthesia: peripheral nerve blockade (torso and plexus) and the central nerve blockade (epidural and spinal) anesthesia or analgesia for surgery, including obstetric procedures.
Contadcitions
- hypersensitivity to local anesthetics of the amide series or to any component of the formulation;
- intravenous regional anesthesia;
- obstetric paracervical block;
- general contraindications related to epidural and spinal anesthesia;
- infections of the skin at the injection site.
Dosage & Administration
Bbefore treatment is necessary to conduct a test on individual sensitivity.
Bupivacaine should be used only by experts with experience in local or regional anesthesia. The equipment needed for surveillance, emergency and intensive care, should be available for immediate use. Before the peripheral or central blockade or infiltration of high doses to patients must be installed on / in the cannula. It is necessary to maintain a constant ECG monitoring.
Required to use the lowest possible concentration of anesthetic in the lowest dose needed to provide effective anesthesia.
Adults
These recommended doses serve as a guide for use in the average adult, defined as persons of young age with a body weight of 70 kg. Regardless of the type of anesthesia, the initial injection, the dose should not exceed 150 mg, with the exception of spinal anesthesia when starting dose of injection should not exceed 20 mg.
Further injections. Administration of subsequent doses of bupivacaine may lead to a noticeable increase of the drug concentration in plasma because of its accumulation.
