Tobradex Indications
Inflammation of the eye in patients sensitive to steroids, under which use of corticosteroids and there is a superficial bacterial infection or risk of bacterial infections of the eye. These inflammations can occur after surgery or may be caused by infection, infiltration of foreign body in the eye or ocular trauma.
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to the active substances or to any component of the drug.
- Keratitis caused by the virus herpes simplex.
- Vaccinia, varicella and other viral infections of the cornea and conjunctiva.
- Fungal diseases of the eye structures.
- Mycobacterial infection of the eye.
Dosage & Administration
For ophthalmic use.
Applications adults, including the elderly and children aged 12 to 18 years
For 1 or 2 drops instilled into the conjunctival sac every 4-6 hours. During the first 24-48 hours of the dose may be increased to 1 or 2 drops every 2 hours. The frequency of the drug should be gradually reduced while improving clinical signs. Be careful and do not discontinue therapy prematurely.
In severe diseases instill 1 or 2 drops every hour until the inflammation will not be controlled, and gradually reduce the frequency of use 1 or 2 drops every 2 hours for 3 days; then instilled 1-2 drops every 4 hours for 5-8 days and late - 1-2 drops every day for the last 5-8 days, if necessary.
