Rovamycine INDICATIONS

treatment of infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to spiramycin.

 - Confirmed pharyngitis caused by β-hemolytic streptococcus A as an alternative to the treatment of β-lactam antibiotics, especially if they can not be applied.
 - Acute sinusitis: given the microbiological characteristics of the infection, the use of macrolides is shown when treatment β-lactam antibiotics can not be.
- Superinfection in acute bronchitis.
 - Exacerbation of chronic bronchitis.
 - Community-acquired pneumonia in people with no risk factors, no severe clinical symptoms, absence of clinical factors indicating pneumococcal disease etiology.

In the case of suspected SARS expedient use of macrolides irrespective of the severity of the disease and the history.

- Skin infections with a benign course: impetigo, impetiginizatsiya, ecthyma, infectious dermo-hypodermal (especially erysipelas), erythrasma.
- Infections of the oral cavity.
- Non-gonococcal genital infections.
- Chemoprevention of recurrence of rheumatic fever in patients allergic to β-lactam antibiotics.
- Toxoplasmosis in pregnancy.
- Prevention of meningococcal meningitis in people who are contraindicated for use of rifampicin with the aim of eradication of the microorganism Neisseria meningitidis in a nasopharynx.

Shown as a preventive agent:

- patients after treatment and before returning to social life;
- persons in contact with patients for 10 days before his hospitalization.

Spiramycin is not intended for the treatment of meningococcal meningitis.
Observe official recommendations on the appropriate use of antibacterial agents.

APPLICATION

in patients with normal renal function: Rovamycinum advised to take the tablets in doses: adults - 6 000 000-9 000 000 IU (2-6 tablets per day in 2-3 divided doses); children older than 6 years - 1 500 000-3 000 000 IU per 10 kg of body weight per day in 2-3 divided doses. Duration of treatment is determined by the doctor depending on the clinical situation (on average - up to 10 days).
Prevention of meningococcal meningitis: adults appoint 3 000 000 IU every 12 hours for 5 days; children - 75,000 IU per 1 kg of body weight every 12 hours for 5 days.
Tablets containing 3 million IU spiramycin not used in children.
Tablets containing 1 500 000 IU spiramycin, do not use in children under 6 years due to risk of suffocation.
Rovamycinum coated tablets, crush and divide can not be!
The tablets should be swallowed whole, washed down with a glass of water.
Patients with renal insufficiency is not necessary to correct dosing.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

- allergy to spiramycin;
- lactation;
- patients with a risk of Q-T interval prolongation;
- known hereditary syndrome elongated Q-T interval or having an elongated Q-T interval, a family history of hereditary syndrome (if not given other ECG results);
- known or acquired, due to medication lengthening the interval Q-T;
- while the use of drugs causing ventricular tachycardia on pirouette type:
- class Ia antiarrhythmics (quinidine, gidrohinidin, disopyramide);
- antiarrhythmic agents of class III (amiodarone, sotalol, dofetidil, Ibutilide);
- sultopride (antipsychotic benzamides group);
- other medications: bepridil, cisapride, difemanil, mizolastine, vincamine, erythromycin (see Interactions.);
- some antipsychotic phenothiazines group (thioridazine, chlorpromazine, levomepromazine, tsiamemazin) benzamide groups (amisulpride sulprid, tiapride);
- halofantrine, pentamidine, moxifloxacin.
