Paroxetine Indications
Depression. Treating depression of any kind, including reactive and severe depression and depression accompanied by anxiety. If a satisfactory response to treatment continued therapy is effective for prevention of recurrence of depression.
Obsessive-compulsive disorder. Treatment of symptoms and prevention of relapse of obsessive-compulsive disorder.
Panic disorder. Treatment and prevention of relapse of symptoms of panic disorder with agoraphobia with or without accompanying it.
Social phobia / social-anxiety disorder. Treatment of social phobia / social-anxiety.
Generalized Anxiety Disorder. Treatment and prevention of relapse of symptoms of generalized anxiety disorder.
Post-traumatic stress disorder. Treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to paroxetine or any of the other ingredients.
Paroxetine should not be administered concurrently with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAO), including linezolid - an antibiotic that is reversible non-selective inhibitor of monoamine oxidase and metyltioninu chloride (methylene blue) and earlier than 2 weeks after cessation of treatment MAO inhibitors.
Do not use MAO inhibitors earlier than 2 weeks after stopping paroxetine treatment.
Dosage & Administration
The drug is intended for oral use, it is recommended to take 1 per day - morning meals. Tablets should be swallowed without chewing.
As with all other antidepressant drugs, the dose should be carefully chosen individually for the first 2-3 weeks of treatment and then adjust it depending on the clinical manifestations.
The course of treatment should be long enough, sufficient to ensure the elimination of symptoms. This period may last for several months in the treatment of depression, while obsessive-compulsive and panic disorders - even longer. As with other drugs to treat mental disorders, avoid sudden withdrawal of the drug.
Depression. The recommended dose is 20 mg per day. For the treatment of some patients may need to increase the dose. This should be done gradually increasing the dose to 10 mg (maximum of 50 mg per day), depending on the clinical effectiveness of treatment.
Obsessive-compulsive disorder. The recommended dose is 40 mg per day. Treatment should start with a dose of 20 mg daily and then weekly increase of 10 mg per day. Some patients improve the condition occurs only when using a maximum dose of 60 mg per day.
Panic disorder. The recommended dose is 40 mg per day. Treatment should start with a dose of 10 mg per day, then - a weekly increase of 10 mg, depending on clinical effect. Some patients improve the condition occurs only when using a maximum dose of 50 mg per day.
