Metamin SR Indications

Diabetes mellitus type II (insulin-dependent) in adults (particularly in patients who are overweight) after failure of diet and physical activity, as monotherapy or in combination with other oral antidiabetic agents, or in conjunction with insulin.

Contraindications

- Hypersensitivity to metformin or any other component of the drug;

- Diabetic ketoacidosis, diabetic prekomy;

- Moderate renal insufficiency (stage IIIb) and or severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance <45 mL / min or GFR <45 ml / min / 1.73 m2);

- Acute conditions occurring at risk for impaired renal function such as: dehydration, severe infection, shock;

Dosage & Administration

Monotherapy or combination therapy in combination with other oral hypoglycemic agents.

The recommended initial dose - 500 mg (1 tablet) per day.

After 10-15 days, the dose should be adjusted according to the results of measurements of glucose in the blood serum. The slow increase in the dose reduces the side effects of the digestive tract. The maximum recommended dose of 2000 mg (4 tablets) per day.

The dose - 1 per day during a meal in the evening, increasing to 500 mg every 10-15 days to 2000 mg.
