Diuremid Indications
- edematous syndrome weak or moderate in combination with alkalosis (for cardiopulmonary diseases or caused by medication);
- chronic open-angle glaucoma, secondary glaucoma, acute angle-closure glaucoma (to reduce intraocular pressure in the short-term preoperative treatment);
- epilepsy (in combination with other anticonvulsants for large seizures (grand mal) and small adults (petit mal) - of children; mixed forms);
- mountain sickness (to reduce acclimation time).
Dosage & Administration

The recommended dose for adults
When edema initial dose - 1 tablet (250 mg) 1 every day in the morning. The maximum diuretic effect is observed when using the drug in a day or 2 days in a row with a one-day break. In heart failure, acetazolamide prescribed background on conventional therapy (cardiac glycosides, diet with reduced sodium, potassium supplements).
In open-angle glaucoma appoint 1 tablet (250 mg of acetazolamide) 1-4 times a day. The maximum daily dose - 4 tablets (1000 mg), further increasing the dose does not increase the therapeutic efficacy of the drug. The duration of the average of 4-5 days, then 2 days - a break.
In secondary glaucoma -. 1 tablet (250 mg) every 4 hours In some patients, the therapeutic effect observed with short-term use, 1 tablet (250 mg), 2 times a day.
Acute attacks of glaucoma - 1 tablet (250 mg) 4 times per day.
Epilepsy Treatment - 1-2 tablets (250-500 mg), 1 per day for 3 days, then break for 1 day.
Contradictions
OPN expressed violations of the liver, liver failure, cirrhosis of the liver (risk of encephalopathy), urolithiasis (with hypercalciuria), hyperchloraemic acidosis, hypokalemia, chronic asthma angle-closure glaucoma (for long-term therapy), diabetes, uremia, pregnancy and breastfeeding, hypersensitivity to the drug and sulfonamides, the simultaneous use of fluvoxamine, children's age <18 years (except in patients with epilepsy).
