Omeprazole Indications
Adults
- treatment of ulcers of the duodenum
- prophylaxis of relapses of duodenal ulcer
- treatment of benign stomach ulcer
- prophylaxis of relapses of benign stomach ulcer
Children
Omeprazole can be used for children over 1 year of age and with a body weight of more than 10 kg with reflux esophagitis, symptomatic treatment of heartburn and acid regurgitation in gastroesophageal reflux disease;
children aged 4 years and older - treatment of duodenal ulcers
Contradictions
Hypersensitivity to omeprazole, substituted benzimidazoles and to any of the excipients.
Dosage & Administration
The recommended dose for patients with duodenal ulcer is 20 mg omeprazole 1 time per day.
In most patients, the ulcer of the duodenum heals for 2 weeks.
For patients who do not have complete healing after the initial course, further treatment is recommended for 2 weeks.
In severe or relapsed cases, 40 mg of omeprazole per day is recommended, and healing is usually achieved within 4 weeks.
