Meditan Indications
- treatment of partial seizures with or without secondary generalization in adults and children aged over 6 years in combination with other antiepileptic medications.
- treatment of partial seizures with or without secondary generalization in adults and children over the age of 12 years as monotherapy.
- treatment of concomitant neuralgic pain in adults with diabetic neuropathy and postherpetic neuralgia.
Contradictions
Hypersensitivity to the drug.
Dosage & Administration
Orally.
The first dose is recommended to be taken before going to sleep to reduce the risk of adverse reactions.
Epilepsy
Medital recommended as an integral part of the combined treatment of patients with epilepsy, starting from 6 years old.
Adults and children over the age of 12 years. The starting dose is 300 mg three times a day. The effective dose of 900-3600 mg / day (divided into 3 doses).
The maximum interval between doses of the drug should not exceed 12 hours.
Children aged 6-12 years. The initial dose should be 10-15 mg / kg / day; effective dose is reached by titration for about 3 days. The effective dose of gabapentin in children aged 6 years and older is 25-35 mg / kg / day. Doses up to 50 mg / kg / day was well tolerated in long-term clinical studies. The total daily dose should be divided in three single doses, the maximum time interval between doses should not exceed 12 hours.
In the case of receiving the next dose skip the missed dose should be taken, provided that the reception following the schedule will not be earlier than 4 hours. Otherwise, the missed dose should not be accepted.
