Loperamide Indications
Loperamide is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of acute non-specific and chronic diarrhea associated with inflammatory bowel. It is also indicated for reducing the volume when dedicated ileostomy.
Dosage & Administration
In acute diarrhea usual starting dose for adults is 4 mg, and then - to 2 mg after each liquid emptying. A typical daily dose - from 6 to 8 mg but not more than 16 mg per day.
Loperamide is taken 1-6 times a day. For children, the recommended initial dose on day 1 of treatment are: between 2 to 5 years (body weight 13 to 20 kg) - 3 mg per day, divided into several stages; between the ages of 5 to 8 years (body weight 20 to 30 kg) - 4 mg per day, divided into several stages; aged 8 to 12 years (body weight over 30 kg) - from 6 to 8 mg per day, divided into several stages.
Recommended dosage scheme - 1 mg per 10 kg of body weight per day - is prescribed only after emptying Liquid, provided that the total daily dose should not exceed the one that was adopted by the first day of treatment. If 48 hours after initiation of treatment will experience a decrease in acute diarrhea Loperamide discontinue reception.

Contraindications
Is not administrated to children under 2 years, pregnant women and during lactation, liver diseases, hepatitis and increased sensitivity to the drug.
