Isoniazid INDICATIONS
- In combination with other anti-TB drugs 3-4 - for the treatment of active tuberculosis all forms and locations;
- as monotherapy - for treatment of latent tuberculosis infection;
- as monotherapy - for the prevention of tuberculosis in persons who are or have been in close contact with TB patients.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to isoniazid or the excipients of the drug.
Epilepsy and other diseases that are accompanied by a tendency to seizures, severe psychosis, polio (including history), toxic hepatitis in history due to the use of derivatives of isonicotinic acid hydrazide (ftivazid), pronounced atherosclerosis, acute hepatic and / or renal failure .
Dosage & Administration
The daily exchange rate and dose is determined individually, depending on the course and forms of the disease, the degree of inactivation of isoniazid, efficacy and tolerability of the drug.
Isoniazid is administered orally before meals or 30-40 minutes after eating.
Adults and children over 4 years of age is assigned a daily dose of 5 mg / kg, 1 time per day for daily use or 10 mg / kg at intermittent reception (3 times a week).
The maximum daily dose for adults - 600 mg for children - 500 mg.
active TB treatment lasts 6-8 months, in order to prevent take 2-3 months.
