Dostinex Indications
Inhibition / suppression of physiological lactation
The inhibition of physiological lactation post immediately after childbirth or lactation suppressants, established in the following cases:
- after childbirth, if the mother decided not to breast-feed your baby or when breastfeeding is contraindicated mother or child for medical reasons;
- after the birth of a dead fetus or abortion.
Treatment of gpanposition states
Disorders associated with hyperprolactinemia, including amenorrhea, oligomenorrhea, anovulation and galactorrhea. Treatment of patients with prolactinsecreting pituitary adenomas (micro - and macroprolactinomas), idiopathic hyperprolactinemia or a syndrome of "empty" Turkish saddle with concomitant hyperprolactinemia, which are the main pathological conditions causing the aforementioned symptoms.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to cabergoline, to any subsidiary of the drug substance or to any ergot alkaloids.
Uncontrolled hypertension.
A history of fibrotic lung disease, pericardial and retroperitoneal space.
For long-term treatment: signs of infection of the heart valves, which are determined by echocardiography before treatment.
Dosage & Administration
Dostinex is intended for oral use. Since in clinical studies Dostinex used primarily with food and since the tolerability of this class of drugs when taken with food is improved, the drug should be taken with meals for all therapeutic indications.
Inhibition/suppression of physiological lactation
Dostinex should be used during the first day after birth. The recommended therapeutic dose is 1 mg (2 tablets of 0.5 mg) taken once.
For inhibition of lactation that have been established, the recommended therapeutic dosage regimen is 0.25 mg (1/2 pill of 0.5 mg) every 12 hours for 2 days (total dose 1 mg). Such a dosing regimen is better tolerated by women who decided to suppress lactation than taking in a single dose, and it is accompanied by a lower incidence of adverse events, particularly symptoms of hypotension.
Treatment of gpanposition states
The recommended starting dose of Dostinex is 0.5 mg 1 time per week or 1/2 pill of 0.5 mg 2 times a week (e.g. Monday and Thursday). Increase weekly dose should be gradual, it is desirable to increase it by 0.5 mg per week each month to achieve optimal therapeutic efficacy. Usually therapeutic dose of 1 mg per week and can range from 0.25 mg to 2 mg a week. For the treatment of patients with hyperprolactinemia Dostinex used in doses up to 4.5 mg per week.
The maximum dose should not exceed 3 mg per day.
