Epileptal Indications
epilepsy in adults and children over the age of 12 years (as an extra or a monotherapy for partial seizures and of generalized, including tonic-clonic seizures and the seizures associated with Lennox - Gastaut syndrome).
Epilepsy in children aged 2-12 years (as an adjunctive therapy in partial and generalized seizures, including tonic-clonic seizures and the seizures associated with Lennox - Gastaut syndrome).
After achieving control seizures receiving ancillary drugs can stop and continue Epileptalom monotherapy.
Monotherapy of typical absence seizures.
Bipolar disorder (adults): to prevent the phases of emotional disturbances, especially preventing depressive episodes.
Dosage & Administration
Epileptal tablets swallowed whole, without chewing and without breaking.
If not assigned Epileptala dose corresponds to the amount of active substance in the tablet, to assign the lowest dose for the whole tablet.
Monotherapy Adults and children over the age of 12 years
Epileptala initial dose is 25 mg 1 time a day for 2 weeks, and then take 50 mg / day for the next 2 weeks, further increase the dose of 50-100 mg every 1-2 weeks until the optimal effect. The usual maintenance dose is 100-200 mg / day for 1-2 reception. For some patients may need a dose of 500 mg / day.
Children aged 2-12 years
The initial dose for the treatment of typical Epileptala absences of 0.3 mg / kg / day for 1-2 reception over 2 weeks, and then take 0.6 mg / kg / day for 1-2 reception over the next two weeks. Further dose increase to 0.6 mg / kg body weight every 1-2 weeks until the optimum effect. The usual maintenance dose is 1-15 mg / kg / day for 1-2 reception. Some patients may need a higher dose.
In view of the risk of rash the initial dose and the rate of further increasing the dose should not be exceeded.
