Metfogamma Indications
Diabetes mellitus type II (insulin-dependent) in adults after failure of diet (especially in obese patients):
- As monotherapy or combination therapy together with other oral hypoglycemic agents or together with insulin to treat adults;
- As monotherapy or combination therapy with insulin to treat children 10 years.
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to the drug;
- Diabetic ketoacidosis, diabetic prekomy, coma;
- Significant renal impairment (creatinine clearance <60 mL / min) and liver;
- Acute conditions occurring at risk of developing kidney dysfunction, dehydration, severe infection, shock application during the radioisotope or radiological investigations with intravascular administration of iodine-containing contrast material;
- Acute and chronic diseases that can lead to the development of hypoxia, cardiac or respiratory failure, acute myocardial infarction, shock;
Dosage & Administration
In general, the initial dose of 1/2 tablets 2 or 3 times a day during or after meals.
After 10 - 15 days dosing should be adjusted according to the level of blood sugar.
The recommended maximum daily dose of 3 g per day of metformin hydrochloride.
Elderly patients. In terms are often reduced in elderly patients renal function dosage of metformin should be carried out according to renal function. In this connection it is necessary to regularly monitor kidney function.
Children aged 10 years. The initial dose is 2.1 Metfohamy® 1000 a day (corresponding to 500 mg metformin hydrochloride) during or after meals.
If necessary, the dose can be increased to 1 tablet Metfohama® 1000 twice daily (equivalent to 2 g of metformin hydrochloride).
