Meglifort Indications
Diabetes mellitus type II (insulin-dependent) after failure of diet therapy, especially patients who suffer from obesity:
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to metformin or any other component of the drug;
- Diabetic ketoacidosis, diabetic prekomy, coma;
- Renal impairment (creatinine clearance <60 ml / min.);
- Acute conditions occurring at risk of developing kidney dysfunction, dehydration, severe infection, shock;
- Acute and chronic diseases that can lead to the development of hypoxia, cardiac or respiratory failure, acute myocardial infarction, shock;
- Hepatic insufficiency, acute alcohol deficiency, alcoholism.
Dosage & Administration
Adults. Usually starting dose is 500 mg or 850 mg (Mehlifort Mehlifort 500 or 850) 2-3 times a day during or after meals.
After 10-15 days of treatment the dose should be adjusted according to the results of measurements of glucose in the blood serum.
The maximum recommended dose is 3,000 mg per day, divided into 3 doses.
Children. Mehlifort drug used in children aged 10 years. Usually starting dose is 500 mg or 850 mg Mehlifort 1 per day during or after meals. After 10-15 days of treatment the dose should be adjusted according to the results of measurements of glucose in the blood serum.
The maximum recommended dose of 2000 mg per day, divided into 2-3 receptions.
