Diabetes mellitus type II in adults when blood sugar levels can not only keep diet, exercise and weight loss.
Contraindications
Amaryl is not intended for the treatment of insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus, diabetic ketoacidosis, diabetic coma. Use of the drug is contraindicated in patients with severely impaired renal function or liver. In case of severe kidney disorders or liver need to switch the patient to insulin.
Amaryl is not be taken in patients with hypersensitivity to glimepiride or any auxiliary ingredient, which is part of the drug to sulfonylureas or other sulfanilamides (risk of hypersensitivity reactions).

Dosage & Administration
The starting dose of this drug is recommended to administer as the lowest effective dose in the following clinical situations.
For patients whose diabetes is not controlled with monotherapy with sulfonylureas or metformin, the usual starting dose of this drug is 2 mg / 500 mg, which is administered 1 time per day and that can be adjusted depending on concomitant therapy to other antidiabetic way or according to the level of glucose patient. When transferring from sulfonylurea drugs with long half-life (eg chlorpropamide), the patient should be carefully observed for the purpose of hypoglycemia, hypoglycemia may occur as a result enhance the effect of drugs.
When transferring from individual tablet combination therapy drugs, the usual starting dose - a dose of glimepiride and metformin already applied.
