Alfa D3 Indications
Postmenopausal osteoporosis.
Osteoporosis associated with treatment with glucocorticoids.
Softening of bones in the elderly (osteomalacia) as a result of inadequate absorption, for example in the case of malabsorption syndrome and posthastrektomichnoho.
To a significant reduction in the frequency of falling among the elderly.
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to alphacalcidol, peanut, soya or to any other component of the drug;
- Hypersensitivity to vitamin D intoxication and symptoms of vitamin D;
- The level of calcium in the plasma above 2.6 mmol / L, product of calcium × phosphate concentrations in the plasma of greater than 3.7 (mmol / L) 2;
- Alkalosis with venous blood pH above 7.44 (lactic alkaloznyy syndrome, Bernetta);
- Metastatic calcification;
- Hypersensitivity to analogues of vitamin D.
Dosage & Administration
The drug take internally. Capsule should be swallowed whole and drink plenty of water. The dose and duration of therapy is determined by the doctor individually, depending on the nature of the disease and the effectiveness of therapy. In some cases, the drug should be used throughout life.
Unless otherwise prescribed by a doctor, the starting dose for adults is 1 mg alphacalcidol (4 capsules of 0.25 mg or 2 capsules 0.5 mg or 1 tablet of 1 mg) daily.
Patients with more severe bone disease prescribe higher dose: 1-3 mg alphacalcidol (4-12 capsules of 0.25 mg, 2-6 capsules 0.5 mg, 1-3 capsules 1 mg) daily.
Children over 6 years with a mass of 20 kg, who are able to swallow the capsule - 1 mg / day (except in cases of renal osteodystrophy).
