Magnesium sulfate Indications

Hypertensive crisis; ventricular disorders of the heart rhythm (tachycardia type "pirouet"); convulsive syndrome; eclampsia; hypomanemia; increased need for magnesium;

As complex therapy of preterm labor; angina pectoris at poisoning with salts of heavy metals; tetraethyl lead; soluble barium salts (antidote).

Contadictions

Increased individual sensitivity to the components of the drug; arterial hypotension, pronounced bradycardia (heart rate less than 55 beats / min), atrioventricular blockade, conditions due to calcium deficiency and oppression of the respiratory center, cachexia, renal dysfunction, severe liver or renal failure, myasthenia, malignant neoplasms.

Dosage & Administration

Intramuscularly, intravenously slowly or as intravenous infusion.

The frequency of administration and the dosage are individual depending on the indication and therapeutic effect.

When infused, the drug should be diluted with 0.9% sodium chloride solution or 5% glucose.

At intravenous injection, the rate of administration usually should not exceed 150 mg / min (0.6 ml / min), except for the treatment of arrhythmias and eclampsia in pregnant women.
