Ketilept Indications
- Treatment of schizophrenia.
- Treatment of manic episodes associated with bipolar disorder.
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any component of the drug;
- Concomitant use of cytochrome P450 3A4 inhibitors, such as inhibitors of HIV-protease azolvmisnyh antifungal agents, erythromycin, clarithromycin and nefazodone.
Dosage & Administration
Ketilept adults should apply 2 times a day regardless of the meal.
Adults
For the treatment of schizophrenia
The total daily dose for the first 4 days of therapy is 50 mg (Day 1), 100 mg (Day 2), 200 mg (Day 3) and 300 mg (Day 4).
Starting from 4th day further dose should be titrated to the usual effective dose limits of 300-450 mg per day. Depending on the clinical efficacy and tolerability of individual treatment dose may be adjusted within 150-750 mg per day.
For the treatment of manic episodes fl ¢ related with bipolar disorder
For monotherapy or adjunct therapy mood stabilizers total daily dose for the first four days of therapy is
100 mg (Day 1),
200 mg (Day 2)
300 mg (Day 3),
400 mg (Day 4).
Further dose escalation to 800 mg daily for 6 day should occur gradually with increasing doses of no more than 200 mg per day.
Elderly patients
Like other antipsychotics, Ketilept should be used with caution in elderly patients, especially early in treatment.
Elderly patients is recommended at the start of treatment to prescribe the drug at a dose of 25 mg per day, which should be increased daily with slow titration of 25-50 mg per day to achieve effective dose, which is usually lower than for younger patients.
