Keppra Indications
Monotherapy (drug of choice) in the treatment of:
- Partial seizures with secondary generalization or without in adults and adolescents aged 16 years who was first diagnosed with epilepsy.
As additional therapy in the treatment of:
- Partial seizures with secondary generalization or without in adults and children aged 6 years, patients with epilepsy;
- Myoclonic seizures in adults and adolescents from 12 years of age with juvenile myoclonic patients with epilepsy.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to levetyratsetamu or other pyrrolidone derivatives, as well as any drug.
Dosage & Administration
Tablets take internally, drinking plenty of fluids, regardless of the meal. The daily dose divided into two equal doses.
Monotherapy for adults and adolescents aged 16 years.
Monotherapy adults and children aged 16 years should start with the recommended dose of 250 mg 2 times a day (500 mg / day), followed by dose escalation to 500 mg two times daily (1000 mg / day) every 2 weeks. Possible dose escalation to 250 mg 2 times a day (500 mg / day) every 2 weeks, depending on the clinical effect. The maximum daily dose of 1500 mg two times daily (3000 mg / day).
Additional therapy for children aged 6 years and adolescents (aged 12 to 17 years) weighing less than 50 kg.
The doctor should assign the most appropriate pharmaceutical form, method and amount of taking the drug, depending on body weight and dose.
As an additional therapy to children aged 6 years should start with a dose of 10 mg / kg body weight 2 times a day.
