Kanamycin Indications
Kanamycin is prescribed only in / m. Before the appointment of the drug in the absence of contraindications is necessary to conduct a skin test tolerance.
Children under the age of 1 year in infections nontuberculous etiology (in exceptional cases), the drug is prescribed in the average daily dose of 0.1 g; at the age of 1 year - 5 years - 0.1-0.3 g; over 5 years - 0.3-0.5 g; maximum daily dose - 15 mg / kg body weight; frequency of administration - 2-3 times per day. Duration of treatment - 5-7 days.
For adults, a single dose in the treatment of nontuberculous etiology of infections is 0.5 g every 8-12 hours, daily dose - 1-1.5 g; maximum single dose - 1 g every 12 hours between administrations; the maximum daily dose - 2 years Duration of treatment - 5-7 days.
For the treatment of tuberculosis designate an adult to 1 g 1 time per day for children - 15 mg / kg body weight 1 time per day. Treatment lasts for ≥1 month (drug administered cycles: over 6 days on a daily basis, on the 7th day - a break).
Rr / m administration is prepared ex tempore, adding to the contents of the vial (1 g) 4 ml of sterile water for injection or 0.25-0.5% solution of procaine, injected deep in the upper outer quadrant of the buttocks 2-3 times a day.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
hypersensitivity, neuritis of the auditory nerve, liver and kidney function, bowel obstruction, newborns, premature infants.
SIDE EFFECTS
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, allergic reactions, neuromuscular blockade, paresthesia, goiter; may cause irritation at the injection site. With prolonged use may develop neuritis of the auditory nerve, nephrotoxic reaction (microscopic hematuria, albuminuria, cylindruria).
