Isoniazid Indications
- In combination with other anti-TB drugs 3-4 - for the treatment of active tuberculosis all forms and locations
- As monotherapy - treatment for latent TB infection and TB prevention in individuals who are or have been in close contact with TB patients
Contraindications
- Increased susceptibility to isoniazid or other components of the drug
- Epilepsy, susceptibility to seizures
- Severe psychosis (including history)
- Polio (including previously postponed)
- Toxic hepatitis in history due to the use of hydrazine derivatives isonicotinic acid (ftivazid)
- Acute hepatic and / or renal failure
- Pronounced atherosclerosis
- At doses of 10 mg / kg body weight during cardiopulmonary insufficiency third degree, hypertension II and III stages, coronary heart disease, diseases of the nervous system, chronic renal failure, hepatitis during exacerbation, liver cirrhosis, asthma, psoriasis, in acute eczema, hypothyroidism, myxedema
Dosage & Administration
The daily dosage and course set individually, depending on the course and form of the disease, the degree of inactivation of isoniazid, treatment efficacy and tolerability. Isoniazid applied internally before meals or 30-40 minutes after eating.
Adults and children aged 4 years prescribe a daily dose of 5 mg / kg body weight 1 time per day with daily use or 10 mg / kg body weight during intermittent reception (3 times a week). The maximum daily dose for adults - 600 mg, for children - 500 mg.
Treatment of active tuberculosis lasts 6-8 months, in order to prevent take 2-3 months.
