Glucovance Indications

Treatment of type 2 diabetes in adults, to replace previous therapy with two drugs (metformin and glibenclamide) in patients with stable and well controlled blood glucose levels.

Contraindications

- Hypersensitivity to metformin, glibenclamide, other components of the drug or other drugs sulfonylurea to sulfonamides;

- Type 1 diabetes (insulin-dependent diabetes), diabetic ketoacidosis, diabetic prekomy;

- Renal impairment (creatinine clearance <60 ml / min.);

- Acute conditions occurring at risk of developing kidney dysfunction, dehydration, severe infection, shock application during the radioisotope or radiological studies with intravascular administration of contrast material yodvmisnoyi;

- Away and chronic disease that can lead to the development of hypoxia, cardiac or respiratory failure, acute myocardial infarction, shock;

- Hepatic insufficiency, acute alcohol deficiency, alcoholism;

- Porphyria;

- Compatible with miconazole therapy.

Dosage & Administration

Internally. Dose set individually depending on the level of blood glucose.

With the substitution of combination therapy with metformin and hlibeklamidom Hlyukovans start treatment with doses under the previous dosage. The dose is gradually increased depending on the results of measurements of blood glucose.

Every 2 weeks after initiation of therapy necessary to adjust dosage depending on the level of blood glucose.

A gradual increase in dose reduces the side effects of the digestive tract and prevent development of hypoglycemia.

The maximum recommended dose is 6 tablets Hlyukovans 500 mg / 2.5 mg or 3 tablets Hlyukovans 500 mg / 5 mg per day.

In individual cases the dose may be increased to 4 tablets Hlyukovans 500 mg / 5 mg per day.

Dosage depends on individual indications:

- 1 tablet a day - at breakfast;

- 2 or 4 tablets a day - morning and evening;

- 3 tablets a day - morning, afternoon and evening.
