Luxfen Indications
- open coal glaucoma or elevated intraocular pressure;
- monotherapy in patients who are contraindicated the use of local β-adrenergic blocker;
- complex therapy with other drugs to reduce intraocular pressure when monotherapy does not bring the desired result.
Dosage & Administration
1 drop brimonidine instilled in the affected eye 2 times a day at equal intervals of time (12 hours).
As when applying any other eye drops, to reduce possible systemic absorption of the drug immediately after instillation of each drop is recommended for 1 min to press on the lacrimal SAC at the medial corner of the palpebral fissure (the point occlusion). If the scheduled use of more than one type of eye drops should be instilled at intervals of 5-15 min.
In patients of advanced age (≥65 years) after applying a single dose Cmax, AUC and T ½ brimonidina not differ from those in patients at younger ages. This suggests that age does not affect the systemic absorption of the drug and its excretion. Dose adjustment for the elderly is not required.
Contradictions
- Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any component of the drug.
- Children age.
- Pregnancy and breast-feeding.
- Concurrent use with MAO inhibitors and antidepressants, which affect noradrenergic transmission (e.g. tricyclic antidepressants and mianserin).
