Furosemide Indications

· Edema in chronic congestive heart failure (if necessary treatment with diuretics).

· Edema in chronic renal failure.

· Acute renal failure (including pregnant or during childbirth).

· Swelling with nephrotic syndrome (if necessary treatment with diuretics).

· Swelling of liver diseases (where appropriate, to supplement treatment with aldosterone antagonists).

· Hypertension.

Contraindications

· Hypersensitivity to furosemide or any other drug.

· Patients allergic to sulfonamides (eg sulfonamidni antibiotics or sulfonylureas) may be cross-sensitivity to furosemide.

· Patients with renal insufficiency as anurii in which there is no therapeutic response to furosemide.

· Patients with renal failure due to poisoning by nephrotoxic or hepatotoxic drugs.

· Patients with hypovolemia or dehydration.

· Patients with severe hypokalemia.

· Patients with severe hyponatremia.

· Patients with pre comatose and comatose states associated with hepatic encephalopathy.

Dosage & Administration.

Dosage is determined individually by doctor, depending on the severity of disorders of fluid and electrolyte balance, the value of glomerular filtration rate, the severity of the patient. In the process of preparation should adjust the parameters of fluid and electrolyte balance, taking into account the dynamics of diuresis and general condition of the patient. The drug should be used on an empty stomach.

For adults the recommended maximum daily dose of furosemide - 1500 mg.
