Esopram Indications

- Major depressive episodes;
- Panic disorder with or without agoraphobia presence;
- Social anxiety disorder (social phobia);
- Generalized anxiety disorder;
- Obsessive-compulsive disorders.

Contradictions

- Hypersensitivity to escitalopram or any of the components that make up the drug;
- Concomitant treatment with non-selective irreversible MAO inhibitors due to the risk of serotonin syndrome, manifested agitation, tremor, hyperthermia. Combined treatment with escitalopram and reversible MAO-A inhibitors (eg moclobemide) or the reversible non-selective MAO inhibitors (linezolid) is also contraindicated due to the risk of serotonin syndrome;
- Patients with known Q-T intervals or congenital elongated elongated Q-T interval, simultaneous application of drugs which prolong the interval Q-T;
- Concomitant treatment with pimozide.

Dosage & Administration

Major depressive episodes. Typically prescribed 10 mg 1 time per day. Depending on the individual sensitivity of the patient the dose may be increased to 20 mg. Panic disorder with or without the presence of agoraphobia. During the 1st week recommended starting dose of 5 mg / day, after which the dose can be increased to 10 mg / day. The dose may be further increased to 20 mg / day depending on the individual patient's sensitivity. The maximum effect in the treatment of panic disorder is reached after 3 months. treatment time is a few months, depending on the severity of the disease.

Social anxiety disorder (social phobia). Typically prescribed 10 mg 1 time per day. Depending on the individual sensitivity of the patient is recommended to increase the dose to 20 mg / day. The reduction of symptoms is usually observed after 2-4 weeks of treatment. It is recommended to continue treatment for 3 months. Prolonged treatment for 6 months is prescribed to prevent recurrence, taking into account individual manifestations of the disease; regularly evaluate the effectiveness of treatment.
