Diaformin Indications
Diabetes mellitus type II (non-insulin dependent) in adults with poor diet (especially in patients with overweight).
In combination with insulin - for diabetes mellitus type I, especially in severe degree of obesity, which is accompanied by secondary insulin resistance.:
Contardictions
- diabetic ketoacidosis; diabetic precoma; diabetic coma;
- impairment of renal function (creatinine clearance <60 mL / min);
- acute diseases, which are accompanied by the risk of renal dysfunction: dehydration (vomiting, diarrhea), fever, severe infections, the condition of hypoxia (shock, sepsis, kidney infections, bronchopulmonary disease);
- symptomatic manifestations of acute and chronic diseases, which can lead to tissue hypoxia (respiratory failure, heart failure, - acute myocardial infarction, acute cerebrovascular accident);
- acute infections;
- major surgery and trauma (when there are indications for insulin therapy);
- abnormal liver function;
- alcoholism and acute poisoning with ethanol;
- lactic acidosis (including history);
Dosage & Administration
Dose physician sets individually depending on the level of blood glucose.
The starting dose for adults is 500-1000 mg / day. After 10-15 days may further gradual increase in the dose depending on the glucose level. The maintenance dose is usually 1500-2000 mg / day. The maximum dose - 3000 mg. To reduce the severity of side effects from the gastrointestinal tract daily dose should be divided into 2-3 doses.
Tablets should be taken with liquid during or after meals.
Duration of treatment is determined by the physician depending on the severity and course of the disease.
