Brufen syrup Indications
Short-term treatment of fever and pain in children
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any other component of the drug, or to aspirin or other analgesic, antipyretic and NSAIDs (NSAIDs), especially if hypersensitivity is associated with nasal polyps, angioneurotic edema and / or asthma.
Severe hepatic insufficiency.
Severe renal insufficiency (glomerular filtration ˂ 30 ml / min).
Severe heart failure.
Severe stomach ulcer or ulcer in active phase.
Gastrointestinal bleeding or perforation of the history associated with taking NSAIDs or in patients with active or a history of recurrent peptic ulcer / haemorrhage (two or more episodes of proven ulceration or bleeding).
Increased susceptibility to bleeding.
Dosage & Administration
For children daily dose is 20 mg / kg per day, to be divided by 3-4 hours according to as described in the table below (data are shown in the table is just an example calculation for children weighing from 7 kg to 30 kg, but not limited to).
For the correct daily dose calculation believe that 1 kg of body weight is 1 ml of syrup, equivalent to 20 mg of ibuprofen (for example, for a child weighing 9 kg using 9 ml of syrup per day, equivalent to 180 mg of ibuprofen). To calculate a single dose daily dose should be divided into 3-4 receptions.
Brufen syrup 20 mg / ml is not recommended for use in children weighing less than 7 kg.
