Cipramil Indications
Treating depression of various etiologies and different species, prevention of relapses.
Treatment of panic disorder with or without agoraphobia.
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the active substance or any component of the drug.
Concomitant administration of monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs, including selegiline in daily doses of 10 mg).
Contraindicated also apply in the first two weeks after discontinuation of an irreversible MAOI or as described in the instructions for use reversible MAOI. MAOI treatment should start no earlier than 7 days after discontinuation of citalopram.
Dosage & Administration
Adults take citalopram daily 1 per day. Citalopram tablets can be taken at any time during the day, regardless of the meal.
Treating depression
Early treatment of adults should take 20 mg orally once daily. Depending on individual sensitivity of the patient dose may be increased to a maximum of 40 mg per day.
Antidepressant effect usually occurs within 2-4 weeks. Treating depression is symptomatic, so long and usually must continue for another
6 months after recovery to prevent recurrence. In patients with recurrent (unipolar) maintenance therapy depression can last for several years to prevent new episodes.
Panic disorder
Early treatment is recommended for adults to take 10 mg orally 1 time per day during the first week and then increase the dose to 20 mg 1 time a day. Depending on individual sensitivity of the patient dose may be increased to a maximum of 40 mg per day.
