Аtenolol Indications
- Treatment of hypertension;
- Treatment and prevention of angina (chronic stable angina and unstable, especially when combined with tachycardia and hypertension);
- Abnormal heart rhythm (arrhythmia, sinus tachycardia, supraventricular tachycardia prevention, Supraventricular paroxysmal tachycardia, atrial flutter and shimmer; ventricular (ventricular arrhythmias), including those caused by increased physical activity, taking sympathomimetic drugs, prevention of ventricular tachycardia and ventricular fibrillation;
- Myocardial infarction (treatment and prevention to reduce mortality and reduce the risk of repeat heart attack).
Contraindications
- Acute heart failure;
- Cardiogenic shock;
- Atrioventricular block II and III level;
- Sick sinus syndrome;
- Sinoatrial block;
- Sinus bradycardia (heart rate less than 45 per minute);
- Hypotension (systolic pressure less than 90 mm. Hg. Art.);
- Asthma;
- Metabolic acidosis;
- Late stages of peripheral circulatory violations;
- Concomitant use of MAO inhibitors (except MAO-B inhibitors);
- Hypersensitivity to atenolol or other β-blockers;
- Untreated pheochromocytoma;
- Renal failure;
- Hypersensitivity to other components of the drug;
- Children age.
Dosage & Administration
Tablets are swallowed without chewing and drinking some liquid before meals, preferably in the same time.
The dose and duration of treatment the doctor determines individually depending on the resulting therapeutic effect.
