Sulpiryd Indications
Acute psychiatric disorders.
Chronic mental disorders (schizophrenia, chronic disorders unrelated to schizophrenia: paranoid state, chronic hallucinatory psychosis).
Contradictions
Hypersensitivity to the drug.
Pheochromocytoma.
Acute porphyria.
Concomitant use of levodopa.
Patients with congenital galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency.
Dosage & Administration
The recommended daily dose - 200 to 1,000 mg, distributed into 2 doses (morning and evening).
Patients with positive symptoms of schizophrenia (formal thought disorder, hallucination, mania, agitated behavior) recommended initial high dose, such as at least 400 mg 2 times a day, which can be increased if necessary.
In patients with negative symptoms of schizophrenia (blunted affect, lean it, anergy, apathy and depression) recommended low-dose (200 mg 2 times a day, increasing the preventive effect of sulpiride).
Patients with mixed positive and negative symptoms of schizophrenia (without the benefit of some or other) typically correspond to a dose of 400 mg 2 times a day.
