Retinyl acetate / Vitamin A Indications

A-A-vitamin deficiency and vitamin deficiencies, diseases of the eye (retinitis pigmentosa, xerophthalmia, day-blindness, superficial keratitis, corneal lesions, conjunctivitis, pyoderma and eczematous lesions of the eyelids), in the complex therapy:
- Rickets;
- Acute respiratory infections, which take place against the background of exudative diathesis;
- Acute and chronic bronchopulmonary diseases;
- Malnutrition;
- Collagenoses;
- Pathological processes of the skin (frostbite, burns, wounds, ichthyosis, senile keratosis, lupus, some forms of eczema, psoriasis), inflammatory and erosive-ulcerative lesions of intestine, liver cirrhosis.
 
Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the drug, acute and chronic nephritis, heart failure in the stage of decompensation, cholelithiasis, chronic pancreatitis, hypervitaminosis A, retinoid overdose, hyperlipidemia, obesity, chronic alcoholism, sarcoidosis (including in history).

Dosage & Administration

Retinol acetate administered internally in 10-15 minutes after meals and externally.
1 ml contains 100,000 UN (25 drops) of vitamin A.
1 drop of cork-dropper contains about 4,000 UN of vitamin A.
In determining the doses we assume that higher single dose of vitamin A is:
- For adults - 50,000 UN (12 drops drug (48,000 UN);
- For children aged 7 years - 5000UN (1 drop preparation (4000 UN).
 The highest daily dose of vitamin A is:
- For adults - 100,000 UN (25 drops drug);
- For children aged 7 years - 20,000 UN (5 drops drug).
Therapeutic doses of vitamin A during beriberi mild to moderate severity are adult to 33,000 UN (8 drops drug (32,000 UN) per day.
