Neophyllin Indications
- Asthma.
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (chronic obstructive bronchitis, emphysema).
- Pulmonary hypertension.
- Central sleep apnea syndrome.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the drug, as well as other xanthine derivatives (caffeine, pentoxifylline, theobromine), acute heart failure, angina, acute myocardial infarction, paroxysmal tachycardia, beats, severe arterial hyper- and hypotension, widespread atherosclerosis, pulmonary edema, hemorrhagic stroke, bleeding in the retina, bleeding, a history of gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer (exacerbation), gastroesophageal reflux, epilepsy, increased convulsive, uncontrolled hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, hyperthyroidism, hepatic dysfunction and / or kidney disease, porphyria, sepsis, the use of children in conjunction with ephedrine.
Dosage & Administration
The drug taking inside for 30-60 minutes before meals or 2 hours after meals, drinking plenty of fluids. 300 mg tablet can be divided in half (tablets 100 mg - not divide), but not crushed, chewed or dissolved in water. In some cases, to reduce the irritating effect on the gastric mucosa, the drug must be taken during or immediately after a meal.
Dosage is determined individually, depending on age, body weight of the patient and metabolic characteristics.
The starting dose for adults and children over 12 years weighing more than 45 kg is 300 mg (1 tablet 300 mg 1 time per day or 3 tablets of 100 mg 1 time per day). After 3 days of medication daily dose increased to 450 mg (1½ tablets of 300 mg), even after 3 days of treatment, if necessary, the daily dose can be increased to 600 mg (1 tablet of 300 mg two times daily or 3 tablets 100 mg 2 times a day).
