Velaxin Indication

- Treatment of major depressive episodes.

- Prevention of major depressive episodes.

- Generalized anxiety disorder (GTR).

- Social anxiety disorder (social phobia).

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to any component of the drug.

Concomitant use of monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAO), and within 14 days after discontinuation of MAO inhibitors.

Venlafaxine treatment should be discontinued at least 7 days prior to initiation of therapy any drug from the group MAOI inhibitors.

The heavy degree of hypertension (BP 180/115 or higher before treatment).

Closure glaucoma.

Violation of urination due to insufficient flow of urine (eg diseases of the prostate).

Severe hepatic or renal insufficiency.

Dosage & Administration

Capsule is taken with meals, swallowing it whole and with water. Capsule should not be disclosed, crush, chew, put in water. Take 1 per day at about the same time in the morning or evening.

Depression

The usual recommended dose for the treatment of depression Velaxin is 75 mg 1 time a day. If necessary after 2 weeks the dose can be increased to 150 mg 1 time per day to achieve further clinical improvement. If necessary, the dose can be increased to 225 mg / day for mild depression and 375 mg / day in severe forms. Any increase in dose should be done on 37,5-75 mg every 2 weeks or longer period, but not less than 4 days.
