Alactin Indications

Inhibition / suppression of physiological lactation

Alaktyn appointed to inhibit physiological postpartum lactation immediately after childbirth or lactation suppression, which was established in the following cases:

- After birth if the mother decided not to breast feed the baby or when breastfeeding mother or baby is contraindicated for medical reasons;

- After stillbirth or abortion.

Treatment hiperprolaktynemichnyh states

Alactin is indicated for the treatment of disorders associated with hyperprolactinemia, including amenorrhea, oligomenorrhea, anovulation and galactorrhea. The drug is indicated for the treatment of patients with pituitary adenomas (micro and makroprolaktynomy), idiopathic hyperprolactinemia syndrome or "empty" sella with concomitant hyperprolactinemia, which are major pathological conditions that lead to the aforementioned clinical signs.


 

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to cabergoline, other ergot alkaloids or to any component of the drug.

A history of the fibrous lung disease, pericardial and retroperitoneal space.

Hepatic failure and toxemia of pregnancy.

Concomitant use of antipsychotic drugs.

For long-term treatment, signs of heart valves, determined by echocardiography before treatment.

Postpartum hypertension or uncontrolled hypertension.

Pre-eclampsia, eclampsia.

Psychosis history or risk of developing postpartum psychosis.

 


Dosage & Administration

Alactin administered internally.

To reduce the risk of side effects from the digestive tract, it is recommended to take cabergoline meals.

Inhibition / suppression of physiological lactation

For inhibition of postpartum lactation Alactin can be used within the first 24 hours after birth. The recommended therapeutic dose -1 mg cabergoline once.

For the current suppression of lactation - 0.25 mg every 12 hours for 2 days (total dose - 1 mg). This dosing regimen is better tolerated by women who choose to depress lactation than welcome as a single dose, and it is accompanied by a lower incidence of adverse events, especially symptoms of hypertension.
