Simbicort Turbuhaler Indications

Regular treatment of asthma in the case of the expedient use of combination therapy (inhaled corticosteroids and beta2-agonists, long-acting):

- Patients whose condition has not controlled by inhaled corticosteroids and beta2-short-acting antagonist used "if necessary" or

- Patients whose condition adequately controlled with inhaled corticosteroids and beta2-agonists long-acting.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)

The drug is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of patients with severe COPD (OFV1 <50% predicted normal) and a history of repeated exacerbations with significant symptoms despite regular therapy with long-acting bronchodilators.

Contraindications

Excessive sensitivity (allergy) to budesonide, formoterol or lactose (which contains small amounts of milk proteins).

Dosage and administration

Symbicort is not indicated for the initial treatment of asthma. Symbicort doses components are individually selected and adjusted according to the severity of the disease. This should take into account not only the early use of combination therapies, but also for the correction maintenance dose. If a patient requires a combination of doses, different from the existing combined inhaler should appoint appropriate doses of beta2-agonists and / or corticosteroids in separate inhalers.

The dose should be titrated to the lowest dose that can effectively control symptoms.
