Venlaxor Indications
- various forms of depression, including anxiety symptoms;
- social phobia and generalized anxiety disorder;
- prevention of recurrence of seizures or new episodes of depression.
Contradiction
- hypersensitivity to venlafaxine or any other component of the formulation;
- venlafaxine combination with MAO inhibitors, as well as over the period of 14 days after administration of irreversible MAO inhibitors. After the abolition of venlafaxine must be a break of at least 7 days before taking MAO inhibitors;
- diseases of the cardiovascular system (heart failure, coronary artery disease, ventricular arrhythmias, ECG changes - increase in the interval Q-T), uncontrolled hypertension, electrolyte imbalance;
- severe liver and kidney function;
- pregnant or planning to become pregnant, during lactation;
- child age.
Dosage & Administration
Dose should be selected individually. The drug is taken with meals with a little water. Duration of treatment is determined by the physician.
Depression. The recommended initial daily dose for adults is 75 mg in 2 divided doses. After a few weeks the daily dose can be increased to 150 mg in 2 hours. the daily dose can be increased to 225 mg if necessary. Typically, the daily dose is increased every 4 days at 75 mg. The maximum daily dose is 300 mg. In the hospital with severe diseases initial daily dose for adults is 150 mg, if necessary it is gradually increased to a maximum daily dose which is divided into 2 doses. After achieving a therapeutic effect dose was gradually reduced to a minimum in view of effective individual response and tolerability of each patient.
