Saroten Indications
- severe depression, accompanied by anxiety, agitation, sleep disorders;
- depression in patients with schizophrenia in combination with a neuroleptic drug for the prevention of acute hallucinations and paranoid;
- chronic pain syndrome;
- nocturnal enuresis in the absence of organic pathology.
Contradictions
Hypersensitivity to amitriptyline or any component of the formulation.
Recent myocardial infarction. Any kind of block or cardiac arrhythmias, and coronary artery disease.
Simultaneous treatment with MAO inhibitors is contraindicated
Dosage & Administration
Starting treatment should be with the use of low dose and gradually increase them with careful observation of clinical effect and signs of drug sensitivity.
Doses> 150 mg / day (225 mg / day, and sometimes up to 300 mg / day) should be used in a hospital environment.
Depression
Adults: initially 25 mg 3 times a day with a gradual increase, if necessary, to 25 mg every other day until a dose of 150 mg / day (rarely up to 225-300 mg / day in the hospital).
Maintenance dose corresponds to optimal therapeutic
Patients over the age of 65 years: initially 10 mg 3 times a day with a gradual increase, if necessary, through a day to 100-150 mg / day. For additional dose is usually administered in the evening. Maintenance dose corresponds to optimal therapeutic.
Chronic pain syndrome
Adults: 25 mg in the evening. The dose can be gradually increased according to the effectiveness of therapy to a maximum of 100 mg in the evening.
