Carbalex Indications
- wpilepsy or simple and complex partial seizures (with loss or without loss of consciousness) with secondary generalization or without; generalized tonic-clonic seizures. Mixed forms of seizures,
- acute mania and maintenance treatment of bipolar affective disorders to prevent relapse or exacerbation of clinical manifestations of weakening,
- alcohol withdrawal syndrome,
- idiopathic trigeminal neuralgia and trigeminal neuralgia in multiple sclerosis (typical and atypical). Idiopathic glossopharyngeal neuralgia nerve,
- diabetic neuropathy with pain,
- diabetes insipidus of central genesis.
Contraindications
- hypersensitivity to carbamazepine or to chemically similar to drugs (eg tricyclic antidepressants) or any other component of the product;
- atrioventricular block;
- bone marrow suppression in history;
- hepatic porphyria (acute intermittent porphyria example, mixed porphyria, porphyria late skin) history;
- acute liver failure;
- combination with inhibitors of monoamine oxidase (MAO).
Dosage & Administration
The drug can be taken during, after meals or between meals with some liquid. The tablets can be split into parts, they will not lose the effect of long-acting; they can also be dissolved in a drink (in 1 cup water, tea, orange juice or milk). Carbalex retard tablets should not be used together with drinks containing grapefruit juice.
Epilepsy
Where possible, Carbalex ointment should be used as monotherapy.
Treatment should be initiated with a low daily dose application, which further increase slowly to achieve the optimal effect.
For the selection of the optimal dose of the drug may be useful to determine the level of active substance in blood plasma.
In appointing the drug Carbalex retard addition to antiepileptic drugs that are taken, gradually increase the dose without changing the current applied dose antiepileptic drug or, if necessary, adjusting it.
Children aged 1 to 5 years - 150 mg twice daily (morning and evening).
Children aged 6 to 10 years - 150-300 mg twice daily (15-20 mg / kg / day).
Adults and children aged 10 years. Therapy should start with a dose of 150 mg 2 times a day, gradually increasing the dose to achieve optimal effect.
Overall, the average therapeutic dose is 600 mg / day
