Osmo-Adalat Indications
Treatment of essential hypertension.
Contraindications
Use of the drug OSMO-Adalat contraindicated in cases of known hypersensitivity to nifedipine individual and excipients women during pregnancy (20 weeks) and lactation, in cardiogenic shock, in combination with rifampicin (because of inability to achieve effective plasma levels of nifedipine in due enzyme induction), aortic stenosis at high level, unstable angina, acute myocardial infarction (during the first 4 weeks) ileostomi or colostomy.
Dosage & Administration
The dose and duration of treatment set individually.
Depending on the clinical picture in each case, the basic dose must be introduced gradually. In patients with impaired liver function may need to carefully monitor its condition, and in severe cases - at lower doses.
Adult recommended this mode:
1 tablet of the drug OSMO-Adalat 1 to 30 mg per day.
Treatment is recommended to start with 30 mg of nifedipine per day (1 tablet of the drug OSMO-ADALAT 30 mg).
Depending on the severity of the disease and individual patient response nifedipine dose can be gradually increased to 60 mg 1 time a day.
Concomitant use of medication or inhibitors of CYP 3A4 inducers of CYP 3A4 may result in the need to adjust the dose of nifedipine or refuse its application.
The duration of treatment determined by the physician.
The tablet is best taken in the same time, regardless of eating, drinking plenty of fluid (eg a glass of water), to swallow without chewing. It is recommended to avoid drinking grapefruit juice with the drug.
Tablets of the drug OSMO-Adalat can`t be crushed or chewed!
