Cavinton Indications
Neurology: cerebrovascular insufficiency, accompanied by neurological or psychiatric disorders - transient ischemic attack, ischemic stroke, post-stroke, vascular dementia, atherosclerosis, hypertension and post-traumatic encephalopathy, vertebrobasilar insufficiency.
Ophthalmology: chronic disease of the retina and the choroid (including - vasoconstriction and thrombosis of the central artery and retinal vein).
Otology: alleviating vascular hearing, toxic (including drug) or other origin (idiopathic, caused by noise overloading), Meniere's disease, idiopathic tinnitus.
Dosage & Administration
Typically 1 tablet (5 mg) 3 times a day. Course of treatment 1-8 months, on average - 3-4 months. In the case of withdrawal of the drug dose Cavinton reduce gradually over 2-3 days.
In the acute phase of the disease it is recommended to begin treatment with parenteral administration. After completion of infusion therapy treatment is recommended to continue orally at a dose of 1-2 tablets (5-10 mg) 3 times a day after meals.
Due to lack of Cavinton Forte hepato- and nephrotoxicity is no need for dose adjustment of the drug in patients with kidney or liver disease.
Contradictions
During pregnancy and lactation, hypersensitivity to vinpocetine or other components of the drug, the acute phase of hemorrhagic stroke, severe coronary artery disease and arrhythmias.
