Ofloxacin Indications
It is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by sensitive pathogens:
- Chronic and recurrent infections of upper respiratory tract, if they are caused by Gram-negative bacteria or staphylococci;
- Acute, chronic and recurrent respiratory tract infections (bronchitis, pneumonia) caused by Haemophilus influenzae or other gram-negative pathogens, as well as Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, enterobacteria, Proteus, Legionella;
- Gastro-intestinal infections, including bacterial dysentery;
- Infections of the abdomen and pelvic organs, including inflammation caused by mixed infections or chlamydia;
- Soft tissue and skin infections, including impetigo and erysipelas;
- Infections of bones and joints;
- Acute and chronic infections of the upper and lower urinary tract. Ofloxacin is also used to prevent infections by dekontominatsii bowel in patients with decreased protective capacity of the organism (eg, in the presence of neutropenia).
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to ofloxacin and other quinolones or to other components of the drug; epilepsy; damage to the central nervous system with a reduced seizure threshold (eg, after a traumatic brain injury, stroke or inflammation in the central nervous system), the defeat tendons fluoroquinolones history. Deficiency of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase.
Pregnancy, lactation.
Children under 18 years old.
