Hypothiazid Indications

- Edema syndrome in cardiovascular diseases, liver and kidneys; premenstrual swelling; edema caused by taking drugs such as corticosteroids.
- Arterial hypertension (as monotherapy or in combination with other antihypertensive agents).
- Symptomatic treatment reducing polyuria (paradoxically), mainly in diabetes insipidus renal origin.
- Reducing hypercalciuria.
 

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients of the drug.
Hypersensitivity to other sulfonamides.
Anury.
Severe renal (creatinine clearance <30 mL / min) or hepatic insufficiency.
Resistant to treatment hypokalemia or hypercalcemia.
Refractory hyponatremia.
Symptomatic hyperuricemia (gout).
 

Dosage & Administration

Dosage is adjusted individually and requires careful medical supervision. With the increase in excretion of potassium and magnesium in the treatment may be necessary substitution therapies potassium (K + <3.0 mmol / l) and magnesium, especially in heart failure, reduced liver function and concomitant use of digitalis.
Tablets should be taken after meals.
