Gatifloxacin Indications
Treatment of infectious and inflammatory diseases caused by microorganisms sensitive to Gatifloxacin, namely:
- Respiratory tract infections (exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, community acquired pneumonia);
- Upper respiratory tract infections (acute sinusitis)
- Uncomplicated urinary tract infections (cystitis), complicated urinary tract infections, pyelonephritis
- Uncomplicated urethral gonorrhea of men
- Vaginal and rectal gonorrhea without complications in women.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to Gatifloxacin or other fluoroquinolone or the excipients of the drug. Diabetes.
Dosage & Administration
Before using the skin test should be conducted on tolerability. The drug is administered every 24 hours intravenously. The dosage and duration of treatment depends on the type and severity of infection.
The recommended dose of Gatifloxacin presented in Table 1 and are suitable for all patients over 18 years with creatinine clearance 40 mL / min and higher.
Gatifloxacin should be used cautiously in elderly persons, due to the possibility of renal impairment in this age group of patients.
