Dosage & Administration
Valsartan can be taken regardless of meals with water.
Hypertension
The recommended starting dose of valsartan is 80 mg (1 tablet Vanateksu 80 mg or ½ tablet Vanateksu 160 mg), 1 per day. The antihypertensive effect is achieved within the first 2 weeks, and the maximum effect observed within 4 weeks.
For some patients whose blood pressure is not controlled, the dose can be increased to a maximum of 160 mg and 320 mg.
Valsartan can be taken with other antihypertensive drugs.
Adding a diuretic such as hydrochlorothiazide, further reduces blood pressure in these patients.
Postinfarction state
Treatment of clinically stable patients can start using valsartan already 12 hours after myocardial infarction. After an initial dose of 20 mg 2 times a day dose of valsartan should be increased to 40 mg, 80 mg and 160 mg 2 times a day for the next few weeks. Vanateks drug is not indicated for the initial treatment. To use a smaller dosage (20 mg) should be used in other drug dosage form.
Heart failure
The recommended starting dose of valsartan is 40 mg two times a day.
Increase the dose to 80 mg and 160 mg 2 times a day with intervals need at least 2 weeks given patient tolerability. It is necessary to consider reducing the dose of concomitant diuretics. The maximum daily dose, which was administered, was 320 mg and was divided into several stages.
