Escitam Indications

Treatment of major depressive episodes, panic disorder with or without agoraphobia, social anxiety disorder (social phobia), generalized anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

Contradictions

Hypersensitivity to escitalopram or to other components of the drug, the simultaneous application with MAO inhibitors or pimozide, during pregnancy and lactation, children's age.

Dosage & Administration

Escitalopram is used in adults inside 1 time per day regardless of the meal.

Major depressive episode. Typically prescribed 10 mg 1 time per day. Depending on the individual response of the patient the daily dose may be increased to 20 mg.

Antidepressant effect usually develops within 2-4 weeks. After the disappearance of symptoms treatment must be continued for 6 months in order to consolidate the effect.

Panic disorder with agoraphobia or without. During the first week recommended starting dose of 5 mg / day, after which the dose can be increased to 10 mg / day. The dose may be further increased to 20 mg / day depending on the individual patient response.
